Jennifer Jensen, Manager of Sustainable Practices and Environmental Analytics, oversees Sustainable Environment Consultants’sustainability risk management platform, EcoPractices®. In her role, she manages and coordinates client projects and everyday operations, including collecting, storing, analyzing data, and generating environmental impact values.
She is a passionate advocate for the environment, and as a result, she decided to pursue a career in the environmental sector. Coming into EcoPractices® from nearly the beginning and seeing how it has evolved as part of SEC has been rewarding for her.
Jenny enjoys bridging the gap to show producers and growers the scientific benefit of certain conservation practices and then helping them find resources to make those practices possible. She also enjoys seeing SEC supply chain customers feel empowered with the knowledge and understanding they get from the EcoPractices platform to make decisions and implement business changes for the greater good.
“I think agriculture sometimes gets a bad reputation. There often is a big disconnect and misinformation with labeling, marketing, and the news,” said Jenny. “Being able to tell a unique sustainability story in a way that is understood by many audiences is important.”
Jenny holds bachelor’s degrees in environmental science, agronomy, and biology from Iowa State University. During her time at Iowa State, she worked as an undergraduate research assistant in the microbiology, environmental science, and agronomy departments. She had an internship with the Department of Homeland Security Customs and Border Protection Laboratory on a biological project. Upon graduation, she also had an internship with the Iowa Soybean Association on the water quality team measuring the effect of conservation practices before joining SEC.
In her spare time, Jenny enjoys spending time with her family and her dog Hutch, being outdoors, and traveling.
